Hizkidz was awesome on Friday. Learning about an awesome God and His awesome Son, from His awesome Word. We read the story of Jesus turning the water into wine, from John 2:1-11. We learned that Jesus’ power is available for us in everyday situations.

Jesus has God’s power, that’s awesome.

For anyone who missed it, here’s Friday’s story.

Second Chance

Last night at Hizkidz we were learning how God gives us second chances. We have been using clips from the movie ‘Cars’ to illustrate the points we are trying to get across; but we also used a story about a boy who was given a second chance.

There is a story told about when Thomas Edison was working on his invention of a Light bulb. Apparently it took a whole team of people 24 hours to put together a Light bulb and when they had finished Thomas gave the Light bulb to a boy to carry upstairs. The boy carried the bulb very carefully but right at the top step he dropped the bulb. The team were disappointed but spent another 24 hours making another Light bulb.

When the next bulb was completed, Thomas called for the same boy to carry the bulb upstairs. This time the boy didn’t drop the bulb. Thomas Edison had given the boy a second chance.

The kids have been loving Gillian telling them the stories from the J1 programme which we are using. Here are a couple of pictures taken last night.

No Fear!

We done a kids club during the summer for my churches (New Life Prestwick) mission week and one of the things we learned was that with God beside us we need not fear and His perfect love inside us actually drives out fear. Here is a song we sang a few times that week. Hope you like it

God’s Story

Summer holidays are over and we’re ready to start Hizkidz with a great new programme where we will be looking at ‘God’s Story’ – From creation to crucifixion, using illustrations from ‘Toy Story’. We can’t wait to see you all so come along on Friday at 6:30.

PEACE!

Tonight we looked at the fruit of PEACE and we used a bunch of grapes to illustrate this fruit of the Holy Spirit. Just as you wouldn’t buy one grape! Instead, you would buy a bunch of grapes. So God doesn’t just give us a bit of peace, He gives us a whole bunch of peace. When the Holy Spirit’s fruit of peace grows within us, we can be sure that God wants to, can, and will take care of us. This peace is so awesome that the Bible says we cannot understand it (Philippians 4:7). Are you upset today? Are you worried? Are you frightened? Then let the Holy Spirit fill you the fruit of God’s peace.

God’s Knitting!

My daughter Carrie sent me a picture of Gracie wearing a knitted outfit. Lots of people knit clothes for new babies. My mum was always knitting all you could hear all day was the click, click, click of knitting needles.

It says in the Bible that God does a bit of knitting, Psalm 139:13 says,

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”

Isn’t that great, we are hand knitted by God.

At Hiz Kidz tonight we’re learning that we can trust God even in the hard times, the times when we feel He’s not there. This verse by Mary Stevenson illustrates what the bible teaches us, that even when we can’t sense God’s presence with us He’s there carrying us through.

Duggie Dug Dug is coming to Ayr Citadel. Yes Doug Horley, the man responsible for the song ‘Fandabidozzie’ is going to be there next Saturday 8th September at 6:30pm tickets are priced at £4.00 for the over threes. It should be a great evening.

Doug Horley, otherwise known as “”Duggie Dug Dug”" lives near London, England with his wife Belinda and two children, Jamie and Luke. Doug has a national and international ministry working with children and song writing.

Doug’s goal is to present the gospel in fun, lively ways and to challenge children to build their friendship with God and to realise how important they are to him. He uses action songs, puppets, tricks, juggling and all manner of other exciting visual methods to catch the children’s imagination.

With his team he travels the UK widely putting on family praise parties, seminars and “”adult”" celebrations as well as running the 8-11′s work at conferences including Spring Harvest which this year attracted up to 875 children per day!! (He likes a challenge!!)

He also runs his own annual “”Duggies Summer Weeks”" which this year was attended by over 1000 mainly unchurched children and young people aged 5-14 during two weeks in August. Doug strives for quality in all that he does and the summer weeks programme included Go karting, Lazer quest, wildlife encounters, the infamous “”gunge tank”", quad bikes, numerous bouncy activities and stacks more.

Doug wants children to thoroughly enjoy themselves at his events – but also to meet with God in powerful ways, and be equipped to be used by God to see amazing things happen.

Doug has also recorded several albums for “”Kingsway Music”" which feature fun action songs, anointed adult worship tracks and high energy dance tracks.

Doug’s other exploits include diving with sharks in the Bahamas, abseiling off tall buildings, juggling machetes and ukuleles and cooking omelettes!!

Just Like My Daddy

I love these ‘Dear God’ letters, in this one Sam’s telling God that he wants to be just like his Daddy. If we are Christians then we should want to be just like our heavenly Daddy, Father God. It says in the Bible, in a Book called Ephesians “Since you are God’s dear children, you must try to be like him.”(5:1). Jesus was just like His Father, he said and he did only the things His Father Would  say and do.

Some Christians wear a wristband or pendant or have something  with “W.W.J.D” which stands for “What Would Jesus Do”. If we think about that for a minute it might save us a lot of trouble by stopping us saying or doing the wrong thing. We could end up being just like Daddy!

Times And Seasons

The Bible says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). At HizKidz we even sing a song about it that goes,

“There’s a time to laugh and a time to cry
A time to wave my hands up high
A time to live and a time to die
A time for everything
There’s a time to plant and a time to reap
A time to shut my eyes and sleep
A time to speak and a time to…
And then there’s just those times When I wanna go….

Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah…

There’s a time to pause and a time to pray
A time to read God’s word each day
A time to serve and a time to praise
A time for everything There’s a time to walk and a time to run
A time to get my homework done
A time to sit and a time to play
and then there’s just those times when I want to go.

Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah…

The seasons come and go, some are cold and miserable while others are warm an sunny. Do you know it is the same with our lives. We go through seasons when things in our lives are happy and bright and other times when things are cold and sad but remember that seasons come and go. The bible says, “He (that’s God) changes times and seasons…” (Daniel 2:21). You might be going through one of those cold, sad times in your life right now but I want to tell you that spring is coming, God won’t forget.
