We’re still in John’s Gospel and last night we read John 6:1-21, where Jesus, seeing that the people were hungry divided 5 loaves and 2 fish and fed 5,000 people and as if that wasn’t awesome enough he even took a stroll across a lake. Jesus knows about the ordinary things we need and He cares for us in practical ways
Jesus cares for us in ways that matter, that’s awesome.
For anyone who missed it, here’s last nights story.
No Hizkidz next week or following week (10th & 17th) because of February holiday.
Last night we visited the “Guest House”, house number 5 on Luke Street. That’s where Mary and Martha lived. Martha was getting into a bit of a flap getting a meal ready for Jesus and was really annoyed because her sister Mary wasn’t helping but was sitting listening to Jesus. It’s a good thing to serve Jesus but it’s important to spend time with him. We can spend time with Jesus today by praying, going to Sunday School, going to HizKidz, and reading the Bible.
The first house we visited was the “Sick House” where Peter’s mother-in-law was sick but when Jesus came for a visit He made her well. What a difference Jesus made in Peter’s house and He can make a difference in any of our homes.
Next we visit the “Crowded House” which was packed full of people wanting to see Jesus. In fact it was so full that some men made a hole in the roof and lowered their paralysed friend down and when Jesus saw the man He forgave and healed him. Jesus had power to forgive sins and heal sick people. He knows what we’re like inside and He can forgive us too.
On Friday we were at the “Rich house” where we learned of a woman who was so grateful Jesus forgave her that she showed how much she loved Him by pouring expensive perfume on him, and washing his feet with tears. We need to show Jesus how grateful we are that He forgives us.
Last night we looked at the fruit of ‘FAITHFULNESS’. We used a banana to represent this fruit because bananas are dependable—they are faithful. Every banana I have ever peeled has had fruit inside. And I have peeled an awful lot of bananas in my time!
Tonight we looked at the fruit of PEACE and we used a bunch of grapes to illustrate this fruit of the Holy Spirit. Just as you wouldn’t buy one grape! Instead, you would buy a bunch of grapes. So God doesn’t just give us a bit of peace, He gives us a whole bunch of peace. When the Holy Spirit’s fruit of peace grows within us, we can be sure that God wants to, can, and will take care of us. This peace is so awesome that the Bible says we cannot understand it (
The first fruit we will look at is an apple which will represent the ‘FRUIT of LOVE’
